Pulling inspiration from the rootstock of threshold symbology and the secret garden, we imagined what real estate iconography could look like when rooted in storytelling and the role of sanctuary. 𖤝
Our dear Kodie Smiley re-emerges into the world of real estate after a few years of focused devotion to her little ones. With this emergent chapter, we wished to honor the beauty that flourishes with motherhood while weaving in the symbology of her professional work.

A Key symbolizes threshold intelligence, contemplating access, permission, privacy, and the ethics of entry. The key itself is seldom the answer; rather, it is a method for entering the innermost chamber / the next chapter. [Read symbol enthusiast section below if you wish to go deeper.]
The Keyhole denotes another form of intelligence, a boundary point that regulates access to a sealed domain of mystery & intimacy. It offers only a partial view, underscoring the consideration required in approaching what lies within.
When paired, the key and keyhole speak to a relationship where presence is restored, stewardship assumes a role of protection, and sanctuary becomes a meeting ground of inner readiness and outer refuge.

A work that has left its imprint on us is St. Teresa of Avila’s “The Interior Castle.”
In this work, written during the 16th century Spanish Golden Age, St. Teresa speaks of the soul appearing as a castle of many concentric mansions. These chambers are crossed not through force or possession, but rather love, discipline, discernment, prayer, surrender, readiness, and right relation. Only through these honorable qualities [keys] is one able to cross the threshold to the next chamber, bringing them closer to the center where the Divine resides.
We feel that these qualities are reflected in the making of a home, of a sanctuary, as the place we pour ourselves into, and in turn are held by, is a living ecology whose vitality is maintained through continuous tending, devotion, and presence.
